We all sweat. It’s an unavoidable, biological fact that happens to all of us. However, this fact of life can be embarrassing and burdensome at times. If you are experiencing excessive sweating occurrences that cause embarrassing situations, stained clothing, or frequent antiperspirant application, you may be a candidate for MiraDry®.
How Does it work?
MiraDry® is an FDA-approved, non-invasive technology used to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. Whether you have an actual diagnosis of “axillary hyperhidrosis” or you feel that the amount of underarm sweat produced by your body is excessive, a miraDry® procedure will permanently reduce, and in most cases eliminate, sweating in that area in just one treatment. Sometimes an additional treatment is needed, and during your consultation your provider will be able to recommend the best number of treatments to achieve your goals.
MiraDry® uses thermal energy to safely eliminate the sweat and odor glands that contribute to underarm sweat and odor. This treatment can only be used on the underarm area.
What to Expect During Your Procedure
At Capizzi, M.D., a miraDry® treatment will take place in one short hour. Your underarm will be numbed with local anesthesia and a temporary tattoo will be applied to your underarm that will inform your provider where to place the handpiece. When the handpiece is placed on your skin and activated, you will feel a slight suction that brings the glands closer to the surface of the skin for best treatment results. Then, thermal energy is delivered to the sweat and odor glands to eliminate them while the system is simultaneously cooling your skin to maximize your comfort.
Your provider will continue your treatment with the aid of the temporary tattoo. After your miraDry® procedure, you will be able to return to work or normal activities immediately. Sometimes there is minor swelling or discomfort that can be easily remedied with an ice pack or ibuprofen.
How much does it cost?

- Vitamins
- Supplements
- Antiperspirants
- Medicines
