Ever wonder what it’s like? A week in the life of a one of the country’s leading breast surgeons (plus, dad, husband and leader/coach of a busy medical practice). We thought we’d offer a peek behind the curtain.
From a practice perspective, Dr. Capizzi’s first commitment is always to patients. Every week he sees many patients. Some are first-time consultations, where Dr. Capizzi takes time know the prospective patient and understand her unique needs – medical, aesthetic and emotional. Dr. Capizzi also sees patients for post-surgical, follow-appointments. And, Dr. Capizzi’s weekly surgical schedule includes breast augmentations, breast lifts, breast revisions, liposuction and often complicated breast reconstruction surgeries.
Because Dr. Capizzi is one of the leading breast surgeons in the country, he is frequently sought after by professional organizions and pharmaceutical company R&D teams to offer advice on new developments and training initiatives. Two big meetings occurred just this past week:
- Allergan meeting regarding Seri, a new bio-textile product used in breast reconstruction surgeries. Allergan hopes to persuade Dr. Capizzi to be a national advisor for this game-changing product.
- Mentor meeting with world-wide president, David J. Wilson, where Dr. Capizzi was asked to partner with the company to develop new expander technology, an instrument used in breast reconstruction surgery.
You’re probably wondering if Dr. Capizzi has any downtime? Glad you asked. After hours, Dr. Capizzi and his wife Michelle (yet, another Dr. Capizzi) are 110% engaged with home life and family – which includes shuttling younger children to sports activities (and cheering them on), keeping tabs on the older kids off at college, cooking, home keeping and squeezing in an occasional date night!
