FAQ’s
How does the treatment work?
The Candela GentleMax Pro laser uses a focused beam of light to target the pigment in the vein. This enables our Licensed Medical Aestheticians to treat the vein without damaging nearby skin tissue. Following a treatment, the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.
How many treatments will I need?
Most of our patients at Capizzi MD require 1-3 treatments to entirely erase a vein. The number of treatments depends on the size/coloring of the vein that is being addressed. It is generally recommended that the treatments be spaced four to six weeks apart.
Who Is Not a Good Candidate for a BBL/IPL treatment?
Those with dark skin or a tan and those with melasma are not good candidates. Because the light rays are attracted to pigment, treating these patients might have an adverse effect.
What are Spider Veins?
Spider veins, also known medically as telangiectasia or venulectasias, are tiny purple veins near the surface of the skin that appear perpetually dilated and visible. They commonly appear on the surface of the thighs, calves and ankles.
What to expect after treatment?
- There is virtually zero downtime for this treatment. Most patients jump right back into their normal life following their appointment at Capizzi MD. The main restriction is avoiding excessive sun exposure after a laser treatment. Always wear sunscreen to reduce the possibility of hyperpigmentation. We have found that compression socks or garments can be helpful to accelerate results after a treatment.
- The results of laser vein removal are not immediate. After the treatment, the vessels underneath the skin will gradually change from a dark blue to light red color, and continuing to fade over the next six weeks.
- Most patients report a high degree of satisfaction with the procedure and relief at no longer having to hide unsightly veins. The treated areas are noticeably clearer and in most cases the skin continues to improve with each successive treatment.
