BBL Laser Treatment

Anywhere on the body. We commonly will see this treatment used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, as those areas typically have the highest rate of UV exposure and therefore pigmentation. Or, if you are interested in scar treatment, we can begin administering BBL treatments 8 weeks postoperatively to improve their appearance.

Sciton BBL® (BroadBand Light) uses advanced light energy to gently heat the upper layers of your skin. This targeted light stimulates your body’s natural healing process and encourages new collagen production. By addressing pigment and vascular changes at a cellular level, BBL helps reduce sun damage, freckles, redness, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone.

Ahead of a treatment, a skincare consultation will be performed to ensure this is the best choice for your skincare concerns. Your aesthetician will explain the procedure take photos so you both can assess progress.

Your aesthetician will thoroughly cleanse your skin, before applying a cool gel to the area, which enhances the effect of the light waves. The aesthetician moves the laser over the skin, delivering gentle pulses of light energy to the area. 

Depending on your needs, the aesthetician may go over the area multiple times. Typically, a full-face treatment will take 30 minutes.

Most patients see noticeable improvement after just one Sciton BBL® treatment, but the best results typically come from a series of 3–5 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. This allows the light energy to work gradually, targeting pigmentation, redness, and fine vessels while stimulating collagen production over time.

After completing your initial series, many patients choose maintenance treatments 2–3 times per year to keep their skin clear, youthful, and radiant. The exact number of treatments will depend on your skin type, concerns, and goals — your Capizzi MD provider will design a personalized plan for you.

One of the biggest advantages of Sciton BBL® is that it requires little to no downtime. Most patients return to work, social activities, or even apply makeup the same day. It is important to stay out of direct sunlight or protect your skin with sunscreen and hats to protect your skin as it heals.

A BBL Treatment is generally not painful, and is often compared to a snapping sensation like a rubber band.
