Are you considering surgery to enhance your breast shape? Two of the most common cosmetic procedures available today are the breast augmentation (with breast implants) or the breast lift. When we first meet a lot of our patients, they’re not sure which one they need. This article is to help you determine which procedure aligns best with your goals!
Breast Augmentation
Do you want bigger breasts? Then a breast augmentation with breast implants is likely the procedure for you. Breast implants add volume to your breast to create more fullness and size, meaning you’ll need new bras too!
At Capizzi MD Cosmetic Surgery, we use Sientra Gummy Bear Breast Implants. These are highly cohesive gel implants that are only available to board-certified plastic surgeons. They have an amazing 20-year warranty (that’s twice the length of their competitors) and are made in the USA. These come in a wide range of shapes and sizes so you can achieve the results you want.
A breast augmentation will…
- Increase size
- Increase fullness and point of the breast
- Provide cleavage
- Improve symmetry and balance for asymmetrical breasts
It will not…
- Provide lift or resolve sagging
- Resize your areolas
- Remove any skin or tissue
Breast Lift
Loss of breast volume after breastfeeding or weight loss often leads to drooping or sagging of the breasts. A breast lift fixes this drooping by lifting the area and realigning the nipple to be in the correct placement. At Capizzi MD we have three levels of lift: mini, modified, or full. This is not a one-size-fits-all procedure and it is one that requires expert technique and skill. Dr. Capizzi is known as Charlotte’s Breast Expert and has dedicated his career to perfecting breast surgeries.
Which level breast lift do I need?
A breast lift will…
- Provide lift for your breasts and address all sagging
- Reduce the size of your areolas to fit your new breast shape
- Remove excess skin and tissue from the area (A breast reduction is a type of lift)
- Improve symmetry
It will not…
- Add volume to your breast
- Increase fullness at the top of the breast
But wait, can I combine them both?
Absolutely! It is very common for us to see patients combine both a breast lift and a breast augmentation to fix the drooping as well as increase the volume of their breasts.
So, what’s the right choice for you?
Oftentimes we find that the best way to decide is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Capizzi. If you are not sure you are there yet, or have additional questions, the next-best option would be to chat with his Patient Care Coordinator.
