Breast Fat Transfer

Breast fat transfer at Capizzi MD uses your body’s own natural fat to enhance breast shape, symmetry, and softness without the use of implants. This technique offers a subtle, natural-looking result while also contouring donor areas such as the abdomen or thighs for a beautifully balanced outcome.

Reclaim Your Confidence

Not all women who seek breast augmentation choose implants. In recent years, Breast Fat Transfer has grown in popularity and efficacy. This procedure is also known as breast injections, fat transfer, or natural breast augmentation; and can offer a subtler, less invasive alternative to breast implants.

Breast Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation has been around for decades and is not a new science. This is a multi-stage procedure that involves taking fat from one area of your body and enhancing the size or shape of the breasts. Also known as natural breast augmentation, Breast Fat Transfer, autologous fat transfer, or breast injections, have become increasingly popular in recent years for women who want a modest increase in breast size without the potential risks and side effects of breast implants.

About Breast Fat Transfer Techniques

Step 1 – Consultation

Firstly, you will schedule a consultation appointment to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Great candidates are patients who have existing breast tissue as well as existing fat stores. Very slender/fit patients are not ideal candidates because of their low body fat. Patients who also only want a subtle change, such as an increase of a cup size or just the addition of cleavage, are also great candidates because of their expectations. During this consultation appointment, your physician will meet with you to determine what areas of liposuction would be good choices for optimal results and the best contour.

Step 2 – Liposuction

Liposuction and fat transfer are completed in the same surgery but liposuction is the first step. At Capizzi MD we use a combination of ultrasound-assisted liposuction and power-assisted liposuction to preserve the integrity of the fat cells and remove the most volume possible. The combination of these two techniques leads to better results with Breast Fat Transfers. During this part of the process, your surgeon will make very tiny incisions and insert a cannula (a thin tube) into the areas where fat is being removed.

Step 3 – Fat Purification

After the liposuction is complete, the fat must be filtered or washed to remove impurities such as blood or oil. At Capizzi MD we use Sientra’s Viality device for fat purification before injection. These purification methods are FDA-approved and proven by numerous studies to result in a higher fat volume retention for patients. It also takes under ten minutes to purify the fat cells, which leads to less recovery time for our patients. When using Sientra’s Viality Breast Fat Transfer system, over 90% of the fat harvested is viable for grafting.

Step 4 – Fat Grafting

Once the fat has been purified, it is loaded into syringes for reinjection. Your surgeon will again make tiny incisions usually disguised in your underarms or at the bottom of the breast, before using a cannula to place the fat in your breasts. Just two incisions per breast are needed to achieve the desired size and shape enhancements of each patient.

Breast Fat Transfer FAQs

What is breast fat transfer?

Breast fat transfer (autologous fat grafting) uses liposuction to remove fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs, purifying it, and using it in the breast for natural-looking volume and shape.

Am I a good candidate for breast fat transfer?

You may be a good candidate if you want a modest size increase, prefer a natural alternative to implants, and have enough excess fat in donor areas. Very slender/fit patients may not be ideal due to low body fat, and your candidacy is confirmed during consultation. An alternative for slender patients is Alloclae, a shelf-stable fat filler used in the breasts to create similar results without the need for surgery.

How is breast fat transfer performed at Capizzi MD?

It’s a multi-step process: liposuction first (they describe using ultrasound-assisted + power-assisted liposuction), then fat purification (through either Allergan’s Revolve or Sientra’s Viality systems), followed by careful fat grafting into the breasts through small incisions using a cannula.

How much of a size increase can I expect?

The page notes breast fat transfer is most commonly used to contour, increase cleavage, and provide small-to-moderate volume, depending on your body, goals, and how much fat can be safely transferred.

How long do results last, and what is recovery like?

Some transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed, but the fat that survives typically remains long-term. Recovery is almost identical to implants, with minor soreness in both donor and injection areas, and many patients return to normal activities within a few days to a week.
