Motherhood is one of life’s greatest joys, bringing delight, pride, and profound emotional fulfillment. Being a mom is also hard work – there’s the lack of sleep, the work-life balance, and of course hands-on care and development. All of these factors combined (and more) take a steep toll on a woman’s body.

Motherhood is Selfless

Despite a rigorous diet and exercise plan, mothers are often dissatisfied with the way pregnancy, breastfeeding, and everyday life affect their appearances. This raises the question: “how can I get my pre-baby body back?”

The “Mommy Makeover” is the most effective solution for restoring confidence in one’s image postpartum. Moms: you have been through and accomplished so much throughout your maternal journey – it’s time to do something for yourselves! Through removing excess fat, toning and firming loose skin, and improving the overall shape of the breasts, a Mommy Makeover results in a redefined chest, hips, belly, legs, and buttocks.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A customizable combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures that address multiple areas to achieve common goals for a postpartum woman.

Popular procedures include:

Frequent add-ons:

  1. diVa Vaginal Laser Therapy: To tighten and remedy urinary incontinence and dryness
  2. Profound Skin Tightening: To stimulate elastin and collagen in the skin to remedy sagging
  3. Botox: To smooth and prevent wrinkles
  4. Juvederm line of fillers: To add volume and enhance contour.

Mommy Makeover Benefits

With these surgical and non-surgical procedures, women are able to restore their confidence by achieving their goals without having to endure multiple different operations and rigorous recoveries.

After childbirth and breastfeeding, most women feel that the skin on their abdomen is loose and that their breasts lack volume and/or sag. Combining breast implants with a lift addresses both the lack of breast volume and positioning of the breasts. For the abdomen, there are a couple different options depending on the amount of loose skin, concentration of fat, and patient’s desired goals. These options include Profound, liposuction, and tummy tuck.

Profound

Profound is a great non-surgical option for skin tightening. Through microneedling with radiofrequency, Profound targets deeper layers of skin to increase production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

These three components of the skin work together to tighten and firm the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin). While Profound is excellent in addressing loose skin, patients who experience severe skin laxity or stubborn fat may find that the surgical route is more beneficial for long term results.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a way of reducing fat permanently. Dr. Capizzi opts to use VASER liposuction, which includes an additional step compared to traditional liposuction. This approach is gentler on the body as it emulsifies the stubborn fat – producing a smoother outcome and less rigorous recovery. Liposuction is often combined with a tummy tuck for a more complete body contouring effect.

Tummy tuck

A tummy tuck not only addresses both stubborn excess fat and loose skin – this procedure goes the extra mile and refines laxity in the abdominal wall as well. Because body types are target areas vary so much from person to person, Dr. Capizzi will recommend one of five types of tummy tucks at your consultation after discussing your ideal procedure and results.

Can I breastfeed after getting a breast augmentation?

Yes! During a breast augmentation, a breast implant is placed in a way so that they do not interfere with or hinder the functionality of the nipple.

Will I be on bedrest after surgery?

You’ll want to take it easy for about a week after surgery. After you leave our office, it’s best to go home and rest for the remainder of the day. Dr. Capizzi does encourage patients to move around in order to increase blood flow and aid in recovery; however, you should still keep your activity fairly light. This is a great opportunity to take a break from your usual mom-duties and delegate them to your loved ones! If you enjoy taking your child for a walk in a stroller, have someone else push. Need groceries? Take a leisurely walk around the store while a friend loads your cart. Another option to help reduce motherly responsibility would be to book a room at a nearby hotel for the first night after surgery and have a nanny stay with the kids.

What are the benefits of combining procedures?

Having multiple procedures at once may sound intimidating, but you can breathe easy knowing you are receiving the best care. Dr. Capizzi will help you decide which procedures will be most beneficial for your body with special regard to your medical health history. Together, you will craft a personalized treatment plan to achieve lifelong goals with only ONE recovery time!
