What is BOTOX® and how does it work?
While it may sound strange, BOTOX® is made from Botulinum Toxin, an organism that causes botulism, or bacterial poisoning. Almost 20 years ago, doctors were able to isolate this toxin, then engineer and refine it into a medical treatment that has been revolutionary in the field of preventative aging.
FDA-approved and clinically tested, today BOTOX® is one of the safest and most popular injectables in the world. It works by temporarily and partially paralyzing the facial muscles that cause glabellar folds (harsh vertical creases between the eyebrows), frown lines extending downwards from the nose, crow’s feet (unforgiving wrinkles around the eyes) and “worry lines,”—those horizontal zigzags across the forehead. The result is a smoother, more youthful facial appearance, regardless of facial expression. Additional uses for BOTOX® include the treatment of hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating in the feet, hands or armpits.

Before & After
Take a gander at Dr. Capizzi’s before and after photos, giving you a visual representation of his stunning results.
Taking the first step:
The first step in a successful BOTOX® treatment is a confidential, informative consultation with Dr. Capizzi. During this time, he will carefully examine your face, go over your medical and surgical history, and invite you to view before and after pictures of the procedure. This is a good chance for you to ask questions and voice any concerns you may harbor about the treatment. In some cases, the doctor may recommend an additional procedure such as a mini facelift, eyelid surgery, a brow lift or a neck lift in conjunction with Botox to achieve your more complex aesthetic goals.
About the procedure:
BOTOX® is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure, so it does not require any kind of anesthesia. The typical client is in and out of the office within one hour. The doctor will administer a carefully determined dose of BOTOX® through a thin needle, zooming in on the delicate facial muscles that are responsible for causing uncomely wrinkles. Once the BOTOX® has taken effect, the nerve impulses in these tiny muscles are blocked, eliminating their ability to continue wreaking havoc.
Having been through the Capizzi experience, these patients can help you understand the smoothness of the journey.
