MicroLaser Peel FAQ

What is a MicroLaser Peel?

A Sciton MicroLaserPeel® is a laser resurfacing treatment that removes the top layers of damaged skin. It improves skin tone, texture, fine lines, and sun damage while revealing fresh, healthy, radiant skin. At Capizzi MD, all providers of this treatment are Sciton Certified.

How is a MicroLaser Peel different from other laser treatments?

Unlike deeper lasers, the MicroLaserPeel® is often called the “weekend peel” because it provides noticeable results with only 3–5 days of downtime. It treats surface-level skin concerns, making it lighter than HALO® or deeper resurfacing procedures.

How many MicroLaser Peel treatments will I need?

Most patients achieve excellent results with just one MicroLaserPeel, but a series of 2–4 treatments spaced several weeks apart may be recommended for maximum improvement, depending on your goals.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your skin will be cleansed with a gentle cleanser and your eyes will be protected. Your provider will position the laser handpiece above the skin and will hold it in place as the scanner moves the beam around the treatment area. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

What can I expect during recovery after a MicroLaser Peel?

You may experience redness, peeling, and mild flaking for 3–5 days, similar to a sunburn. Most patients can return to normal activities within a few days and notice smoother, brighter skin once healing is complete.

When should I expect results and how long do they last?

Most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days.

Results can last for years, depending on your skin type, sun exposure, and skincare routine. Many patients schedule annual or semi-annual BBL treatments to maintain their glow.

MicroLaserPeel vs. HALO: What’s the Difference?

Both Sciton MicroLaserPeel and HALO are advanced resurfacing treatments, but they serve different purposes depending on your skin concerns and desired downtime.

MicroLaser Peel: Best for improving texture, fine-moderate lines, and mild wrinkles. Sun damage will be improved but is not the best target for this treatment.

HALO: Best for sun damage, pigmentation, and visible signs of aging (collagen loss). Wrinkles and texture will be improved but are not the best target for this treatment.
