Drs. Craig Thompson and Peter Capizzi

One of the things that makes Dr. Capizzi a great surgeon is his commitment to being at the forefront of new ideas. Attending professional conferences, like this past weekend’s American Society of Plastic Surgeon’s exhibition and conference in Chicago is one such example.

Dr. Capizzi reconnected in person with associates from his Mayo Clinic days. Craig Thompson was Dr. Capizzi’s senior resident at Mayo. Advancement is all about passing knowledge along.

Medical advances in cosmetic and breast reconstruction surgery are also produced by rigorous and often expensive R&D (research and devevelopment) undertaken by major pharmaceutical companies like Allergan, Sientra and Mentor. Dr. Capizzi engages with all three companies and is often called upon to conduct professional training sessions, or preceptorships, and take the stage at national conventions to share experience and insight.

This morning Dr. Capizzi is back in his favorite place, North Carolina, with a full schedule of patient visits, surgery and engaging with his staff at Stillwater Plastic Surgery.
