Types of Breast Implants

The best way to determine the right type of implant for your body and lifestyle is through a consultation with Dr. Capizzi. He will guide you in making the best selection for your body while answering all your questions and concerns along the way. His number one priority are your safety, comfort, and happiness with your results.

Here at Capizzi MD, we offer the most attractive and reliable silicone implants on the market. Dr. Capizzi recommends 5th generation Gummy Bear Implants (cohesive silicone gel), which are the safest and best available. Silicone implants contain a gelatinous fluid that resembles the feeling of organic breast tissue. You can touch and feel each implant at your consultation to aid in your decision-making. All implants have undergone rigorous testing and are FDA approved.

We use a 3D imaging software known as Crisalix to help you get a better mental image of what different implant sizes and shapes will look like on your body. During your consultation, we will take photos of your body from different angles. These photos are then uploaded to the software, allowing you to see a 3D rendering of your body with the types of implants you are considering. You will also receive a link to view your Crisalix at your convenience after your consultation.

Gummy Bear Implants

Gummy Bear Implants are the newest type of silicone breast implant on the market. They have become the gold standard for surgeons and patients alike. Approved by the FDA in 2013, this superior fifth-generation gel implant is remarkable for its tapered, tear-drop shape and supple texture, both of which perfectly mimic the natural contour and feel of the female breast.

Dr. Capizzi was an FDA co-investigator for these particular implants. With over 100 shapes and sizes available, the Gummy Bear offers options for any physique. Their stability and versatility is proven to be revolutionary

The Procedure

Dr. Capizzi performs all surgeries in his accredited operating room located right here in our office in Charlotte, NC.

During the consultation, Dr. Capizzi will discuss the least invasive incision point for each patient’s body. He takes into consideration every individual’s choice of implant, body makeup, and medical records. This is a delicate area where the eye of a true artist shines through! His delicate care ensures an outcome that is seamless and authentic. Dr. Capizzi’s attention to detail dictates that the surgical site is as finite as possible. This reduces the risk of infection and facilitates a speedy recovery. No cumbersome tapes, braces, or bandages are necessary in post-operative care. Patients are usually able to resume their regular activities and exercise within 1-2 weeks after the procedure.

The most common point of insertion for the Breast Augmentation is under or over the pectoral muscles. Dr. Capizzi creates a small ‘pocket’ to cradle the implant. Another option is an insertion at the areola, in the crease under the breast, or nipple. These options are often chosen for a breast augmentation accompanied by a lift.

Breast Lift?

Breast implants increase volume but do not have a lifting effect on their own. A lift is necessary in cases where the patient’s areola sits lower on the breast, closer to the crease. Implant insertion at the crease without the addition of a lift results in a “snoopy dog” look, where the breast tissue droops below the implant.
