Choosing the right surgeon for your liposuction
Dr. Capizzi is known throughout the metro-Charlotte, North Carolina area as one of the best power-assisted (PAL) liposuction providers due to several important factors. The doctor is double board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and as such has undergone the demanding, exactly training, licensing, testing, residencies, and a cosmetic fellowship that result in truly exceptional patient outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Capizzi has been performing liposuction since 1997, and is able to recommend the ideal solution for each body type.
During your confidential initial consultation, the doctor will go over your medical history, before and after photographs, take your measurements and carefully review your questions and concerns. Together with his team of dedicated, expert staff members, Dr. Capizzi offers a caring, highly customized patient experience that will leave you excited and completely satisfied when considering liposuction or any other body contouring procedures.
Dr. Capizzi’s approach to liposuction
Always on the forefront of medical and surgical advances in the industry, Dr. Capizzi is able to offer his patients the very latest liposuction techniques available, including Power-Assisted Liposuction from Microaire. He also has experience with Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction (UAL), and Laser Liposuction (Smart Lipo). In all cases, incisions are minimal, thanks to the use of “microrco-cannulas,” or minute, precision devices that function as tiny straws in order to remove body fat. Before suction, the area is flushed with a tumescent solution to ensure greater ease of cell removal. This “turmescent” solution has medication in it that results in liposuction (PAL), having less pain for the patient and a more rapid recovery. Dr. Capizzi will discuss the most appropriate options for you during your consultation.

Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)
As the name suggests, this method involves using a mechanized cannula (vibrating smooth, stainless steel tube) instead of a manually operated one. This ensures greater precision, accuracy and ease of execution during the procedure. It has markedly decreased post-treatment discomfort and decreases downtime. Surgeons retain more control during the fat removal process and are able to reach difficult areas with better results.
Having been through the Capizzi experience, these patients can help you understand the smoothness of the journey.
In addition to choosing the least invasive process for your liposuction, Dr. Capizzi employs, when needed, the use of Reston foam sheeting at the surgical site to minimize bruising and tenderness. This is uncommon among plastic surgeons, and further serves to highlight the doctor’s procedures as unique.
After the surgery, Dr. Capizzi will recommend compression garments for a few weeks, which serve to speed up recovery and finalize your results. Swelling begins to dissipate after 48 hours and continues for the following 2 weeks or so. After which, your tissue, skin and fat, will contract down and continue to do so, for 6-12 weeks. Keeping one’s weight stable is critical. If assistance is needed, you can schedule a wellness consultation with or Nurse Practioner, Grace Anglin, DNP to discuss if weight loss treatments are right for you. This added treatment can help make a great result even better. For our practice, Liposuction has few risks out of any surgical procedure, and therefore you can reasonably hope to resume normal activities within 48 hours.
Remember that the wonderful outcome you see in the mirror after surgery will only improve over time. While liposuction (PAL) is a great procedure to do alone, it’s also great as an addition to your breast augmentation.
