Liposuction

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that removes stubborn, unwanted body fat. It has risen in popularity to become one of the most sought-after procedures in the country. This game-changing operation is a safe and effective way for both men and women alike to successfully take control of their images. Liposuction slims common trouble spots such as the thighs, buttocks, arms, abdomen, neck or hips. With these pesky areas toned and tapered, you can reach your vision of a sleeker, more attractive you.

Choosing The Right Surgeon For Liposuction

The metro-Charlotte, North Carolina area knows Dr. Capizzi as one of the best power-assisted liposuction (PAL) providers. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery and has undergone the demanding training, licensing, testing, residencies, and cosmetic fellowships that result in exceptional patient outcomes. Dr. Capizzi has been performing liposuction since 1997, and is able to recommend the ideal solution for each body type.

When you schedule a confidential initial consultation, Dr. Capizzi will meet with you to review your medical history, before and after photographs, take measurements and carefully go over your questions. The entire Capizzi MD team strives to offer a caring, personalized patient experience that will leave you completely satisfied when considering liposuction or any other body contouring procedures.

The Liposuction Procedure

Always on the forefront of medical and surgical advances in the industry, Dr. Capizzi offers his patients the very latest liposuction techniques available, including Power-Assisted Liposuction from Microaire. He also has experience with Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction (UAL), and Laser Liposuction (Smart Lipo). In all cases, incisions are minimal, thanks to the use of “micro-cannulas,” or small, precision devices that function as tiny straws to remove body fat. Before suction, a tumescent solution flushes the area to ensure less pain and greater ease of cell removal, meaning a more rapid recovery. Dr. Capizzi will discuss the most appropriate options for you during your consultation. Besides choosing the least invasive process for your liposuction, Dr. Capizzi employs, when needed, the use of Reston foam sheeting at the surgical site to reduce bruising and tenderness. This practice is uncommon among plastic surgeons, and further serves to highlight the doctor’s unique techniques.

Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

As the name suggests, this method involves using a mechanized cannula (vibrating smooth, stainless steel tube) instead of a manual one. This ensures greater precision, accuracy and ease of execution during the procedure. It has decreased post-treatment discomfort and decreases downtime. Also, surgeons have more control during the fat removal process and are able to reach difficult areas with better results.

Recovery

After the surgery, Dr. Capizzi will recommend wearing compression garments for a few weeks, which speed up recovery and complete your results. Swelling begins to dissipate after 48 hours and continues for the following 2 weeks. After which, your tissue, skin and fat, will contract down and continue to do so, for 6-12 weeks. Keeping one’s weight stable is very important during this time. If you need help keeping your weight stable, you can schedule a Wellness Program consultation with our Nurse Practitioner, Grace Anglin to discuss if weight loss treatments are right for you. This extra treatment can help make a great result even better. Liposuction has few risks, and thus you can reasonably hope to resume normal activities within 48 hours.

Remember that the wonderful outcome you see in the mirror after surgery will only improve over time. While liposuction (PAL) is a great procedure to do alone, it’s also great as an addition to your breast augmentation.
