Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

What is BHRT?

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is the use of natural hormones as supplementation in an individual experiencing hormonal imbalances.  Hormonal changes are common in both men and women.

Who could benefit from BHRT?

BHRT is used in both males and females.  Women experiencing symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, fatigue, and irritability can benefit from BHRT.  Men experiencing symptoms of andropause, such as decreased libido, insomnia, and mood changes can benefit from BHRT.

BHRT Process:

At Capizzi MD, we use saliva testing to obtain an accurate reading of hormone levels.  These results are then used to create a formula that is tailored to each patients’ specific needs. Saliva reflects your active hormone levels and is the best way to monitor topical hormone supplementation. With its easy and convenient collection and no need for needles, salivary hormone testing is a preferable and reliable method when compared to blood testing. The solution is simple, topical hormone supplementation (similar to a cream) and possibility of oral supplementation (depending on labs results) prescribed to the patient.

Who administers BHRT Treatment?

Most BHRT patients will meet with our Nurse Practitioner, Grace Anglin. Grace is an instrumental part of the Capizzi MD team of caring professionals.  A former cardiac nurse with over ten years of healthcare experience (with the Capizzi MD team since 2013), Grace has extensive experience and credentials, including having completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) degree with concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner (F.N.P.) from East Carolina University. She is the Director for our Women’s Health and our Wellness Program here at Capizzi MD. Interested in the Hormone Replacement Therapy Program? Schedule a consultation with Grace, during which she will walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have about the program.
