Generally, Sunday is a day of rest for Dr. Capizzi. Sort of. With five children and an active household, time away from work often means engagement in other labors of love with family. However, this Sunday will truly be a work day.
Dr. Capizzi has been invited to participate in an Advisory Meeting in Chicago with Sientra, along with a handful of other leading U.S. plastic surgeons. The meeting starts Sunday at 11 a.m. and concludes promptly at 1 p.m. It appears Dr. Capizzi will be airborne back to Charlotte when the Panthers kick off!
We have (lightly) grilled Dr. Capizzi on the topics of the Sientra meeting, but the agenda is confidential. Suffice it to say that Sientra is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. One of the things that makes Sientra great is a commitment to R&D, which means seeking counsel from experts like Dr. Capizzi.
There is no personal gain for Dr. Capizzi in these extra-curricular activities. He is not compensated – beyond airfare, an expense Sientra will cover. Additionally, Dr. Capizzi also participates in advisory panels and meetings with Allergan and Mentor, the two other pharmaceutical companies that lead with way in devices and technologies related to breast surgery.
In short, the endgame for Dr. Capizzi is learning, growing and sharing his formidable expertise with companies and colleagues who, like him, are committed to continuous advances in the filed of breast surgery
