But what if you could get a breast lift non-surgically? It turns out, you can! A Vampire Breast Lifts rely on platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to create a somewhat fuller, firmer bust non-surgically. That said, a surgical breast lift, aka mastopexy, is the only permanent way to reposition your breasts. This can be done in different ways, using different techniques depending on your needs. The goal of this procedure is to elevate your nipples and areola higher on your breast mound, as well as tighten any loose skin.
It is important to note that at Capizzi MD, we do not offer vampire breast lift services. The reason for this is because of the lack of significant data indicating that it provides long-term results and the lack of safety research into the procedure. That said, we like to give prospective patients all the information available to them so they can make the best choice for the surgeon and practice that will help them meet their aesthetic goals.
Whom is a candidate for a vampire breast lift?
A vampire breast lift may be right for you if you’re looking for a very slight and subtle lift — similar to the amount that a pushup bra can provide — or if you prefer a less-invasive, non-surgical approach to a breast lift.
A Vampire breast lift is different from a standard surgical breast lift, meaning the two procedures also produce different outcomes. When opting for the non-surgical route, it’s important to manage expectations.
A Vampire breast lift will not:
- add a cup size to your bust
- create a new breast shape
- address sagging
However, a Vampire breast lift can:
- create the appearance of fuller, firmer breasts
- minimize the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks
- improve blood circulation
The best way to determine if you’re a candidate is by having a consultation!
The Consultation
So, you’ve decided you’re interested in a non-surgical breast lift. What happens next?
You will meet your team of providers at our office for your consultation. During this appointment, you can expect them to:
- examine your breasts
- discuss your aesthetic concerns
- evaluate your medical history
After discussing your goals and examining your physical makeup, your providers will determine if you’re eligible for a Vampire breast lift! They will explain the procedure to you in-depth. Together, you’ll decide whether a VBL can provide the results you’re looking for.
What happens during the procedure?
A Vampire breast lift is a simple procedure, as compared to a surgical breast lift. Your provider will begin by applying a topical numbing cream to your breasts. As you’re numbing, they will then prepare your PRP injections.
This process consists of two steps:
- Taking the blood sample – this is usually done from your arm, similar to giving blood or having blood work done
- Separation – the blood sample is then put in a centrifuge machine to draw out the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of your blood (like red blood cells).
Once the treatment area is fully numb, your provider will inject the solution into your breasts.
Looking for extra firmness?
Your provider can add hyaluronic acid to the PRP solution. Hyaluronic acid is one of the main building blocks for skin tightening that our bodies naturally produce, joined by collagen and elastin.
For optimal results, patients can also add on a microneedling treatment. Microneedling with SkinPen is a fantastic, FDA-cleared procedure that rejuvenates the skin by boosting collagen production. This collagen smooths fine lines and improves the texture of the skin. Microneedling reaches the skin below the surface. The SkinPen uses tiny needles to create microscopic punctures in the skin’s outer layers. Your aesthetician will select the precise speed and depth settings for your personal goals. These tiny punctures stimulate the body’s production of collagen and elastin during the wound healing process.
The wound healing process has three phases:
- Inflammation – Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. This phase creates redness that lasts 1-2 days.
- Proliferation – The wound begins to rebuild with new immature cells and a new network of blood vessels.
- Remodeling – New cells mature as dermal tissues with a new network of blood vessels. These strong dermal tissues replace the wound. This phase lasts about 6 weeks, after which point you can be retreated.
Recovery and Results
A Vampire breast lift is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure, so no downtime is necessary. Minor bruising and swelling may occur but will resolve in a few days with the help of the Arnica Forte supplement. Most patients can return to their regular daily activities immediately after their appointment.
The PRP injection process works by creating micro-injuries in your skin. Your skin responds to these micro-injuries caused by the injections by creating new, stronger tissues. Because of this, results from this procedure are not permanent. Your skin needs time to react to the “injuries” and begin to build new tissues! You will notice gradual changes in your breast tone and texture over the coming weeks. Full results should be apparent within three months and last up to two years.
What are the risks?
As this is a relatively new and experimental procedure, there’s no data documenting the long-term effects on the breast tissue and how the injections may impact mammograms or the risk of breast cancer.
You may not be eligible for this procedure if you:
- have a history of breast cancer
- are pregnant
- are breastfeeding
In addition to the lack of data regarding long-term effects on the breast tissue, there’s also no data on the overall effectiveness of the treatment – meaning long-term side effects and risks are also unknown.
