As with any cosmetic treatment, there are plenty of CoolSculpting® Misconceptions on the internet. Does it work? How effective is it? What does it actually do? We are here to help you sort out the correct information. At Capizzi MD Cosmetic Surgery & Skincare, we want our patients to feel confident that the treatments we offer are safe and effective. We have many success stories with CoolSculpting® and would love to share those with you during a consultation.

Our providers receive advanced education at CoolSculpting® University to enable them to have BETTER results for their patients. Dr. Peter Capizzi also co-authored a study to improve the treatment technique for better results. At Capizzi MD we use a “stacking method” which allows us to treat patients more effectively. No returning to our office for multiple treatments. And our patients experience better results because we use this improved method.

Does CoolSculpting Actually Work?

Yes! It does! Harvard researchers found that fat cells are vulnerable to freezing temperatures. Further research proved that fat could be safely targeted & frozen without causing any harm to skin! Thus CoolSculpting® was born.

Fat cells in the treatment area are frozen and destroyed. Afterwards, your body eliminates them naturally through the lymphatic system. Once this process takes place and the lymphatic system has rid the body of the fat cells, the fat is gone for good!

I Have it is Painful? Is That True?

No needles, no anesthesia. What’s not to love? Sometimes the treatment can be uncomfortable when the cycle starts (it is REALLY cold). But then the area gets numb and there is no sensation. During treatment most people read, watch TV, eat a snack, or take a nap!

What is the “Stacking” Method and How is it Different?

Great question. At any med spa you may walk in for the same treatment, they administer one “cycle” for 35 minutes and send you on your way. Their instructions would be to return in 12 weeks for your next cycle, and so on and so forth.

The problem with this is most patients require at least 4-6 cycles to an area to see the results they want. So what that means is you would not have full results for a YEAR.

What we do at Capizzi MD is we administer ALL the cycles in a single appointment. Meaning you see your results faster and you get better results.

How Soon Does it Work? How Long do CoolSculpting® Results Last?

Some results may appear as soon as the 3 week mark, but you’ll continue to see improvements for 3 months following the procedure. The treated fat cells are permanently destroyed and do not regenerate. However, having the CoolSculpting® procedure done does not mean you will never gain weight in that area again. Patients that maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle see results last.

Is CoolSculpting® Worth the Money?

This depends on your needs entirely. It is most effective for patients who have a healthy lifestyle but who suffer from an area or two of stubborn fat. 83% of RealSelf members say the treatment is “worth it.”

Our providers will never recommend a treatment if they do not feel it will be effective. For patients looking to lose significant volume or weight we may refer you to liposuction or our Wellness & Weight Loss Program to make sure you get the results you are looking for.

What Happens if You Gain Weight after CoolSculpting®?

The untreated fat cells that still remain can expand. When we lose weight our fat cells shrink. Likewise, when we gain weight, our fat cells don’t multiply – instead, they expand.

With CoolSculpting® the treated fat cells are destroyed but that does not prevent the existing fat cells from expanding.

CoolSculpting® misconceptions are found quite easily on the internet. As an accredited cosmetic surgery practice, it is our job to dispel misinformation that stems from poor treatment practices. With advanced education and over a decade of providing this revolutionary treatment, our practice will always build the treatment plan that best fits your needs.
